THAT DEPENDS ON THE PROVIDER!
Virtually all providers in the low-price segment under €100 operate as follows: A Chinese manufacturer is searched for via Alibaba.com or similar platforms. There, a GPS children's watch costs between 5 and 20 US$ at purchase. The Chinese manufacturers use a shared tracking platform with a multilingual app such as SeTracker or Aibeile. These apps use servers that are controlled from China. These apps often even run ads, which can be deactivated for a fee with a monthly or annual subscription. A privacy policy is not even presented to you for acceptance or rejection! This is why none of these offers are GDPR-compliant! These watches are then given a German brand name such as JBC or Innogad, etc., and are offered through common online shopping systems.
Under the General Data Protection Regulation, your children's personal data constitutes particularly sensitive data. Do not let it out of your hands and therefore choose exclusively a German provider that has its own developed server and app technology, such as Pingonaut or our Anio Watch. Only in this way can a children's smartwatch represent a safety benefit.
Cheap children's smartwatches have serious security flaws, such as preset default passwords, insecure and unencrypted communication, possible multiple registrations, etc..
This is how shocking scandals like those uncovered by Bild.de and Heise Online keep occurring.
Do not compromise on your children's safety! Buy quality and rely on server technology from Germany!
