IT DEPENDS ON THE PROVIDER!
Virtually all suppliers in the low-price segment under €100 work as follows: A Chinese manufacturer is searched for via Alibaba.com or similar platforms. A GPS children's watch then costs between US$ 5 and US$ 20 when purchased there. The Chinese manufacturers use a common tracking platform with a multilingual app such as SeTracker or Aibeile. These apps use servers that are controlled from China. These apps often even run advertising, which can be deactivated for a fee with a monthly or annual subscription. You are not even presented with a privacy policy for approval or rejection! These offers are therefore not GDPR-compliant! These watches are then given a German brand name such as JBC or Innogad, etc. and are offered via the usual online shopping systems.
Your children's personal data is particularly sensitive data in terms of the General Data Protection Regulation. Don't let them out of your hands and therefore only choose a German provider with server and app technology developed in-house, such as Pingonaut or our Anio Watch. This is the only way that children's smartwatch can represent a security gain.
Cheap children's smartwatches have serious security gaps, such as preset default passwords, insecure and unencrypted communication, possible multiple registrations, etc.
This repeatedly leads to hair-raising scandals, as Bild.de and Heise Online have uncovered.
Don't skimp on the safety of your children! Buy quality and rely on server technology from Germany!
