Anio fall bucket list: 10 (almost) free activities for kids in fall

Need ideas for what to do with your kids this fall? We've collected 10 (almost) free fall activities for kids here!

10 (almost) free fall activities

1. collect chestnuts & do handicrafts with them 🌰

You can collect chestnuts with your children until mid-October. You can find cute craft ideas on idea sites such as Pinterest. But chestnuts aren't the only thing you can collect in the fall. How about acorns, walnuts or hazelnuts?

2. collect & dry colorful leaves 🍁

Colorful autumn leaves are perfect for spending a creative afternoon with your children. The dried leaves can then be used for crafts. To dry the leaves, simply place them between 2 layers of kitchen paper.kitchen paper in a heavy book (it's best to use an older book, as the pages may get a little dirty from the leaves). After a few days, the leaves will have dried and can be used for decorating.Alternatively, your children can also create their own "leaf identification poster"by sticking different leaves on a sheet of cardboard and then labeling them accordingly.Or they can use the leaves in combination with watercolorsand create creative works of art!

3. fly a kite 🪁

The classic fall activity. Of course, the weather has to cooperate here - so it should be at least a little windy. For small children aged 3 and over a simplechildren's kite with just one string is perfectly adequate. Otherwise, the "kite-flying event" quickly turns into a "string-unknotting afternoon" - frustrating both children and parents! For children aged 8 and over, a stunt kite is the more exciting alternative.

4th family movie night 🍿

For a cozy movie night at home, simply choose a movie, have some popcorn and snacks ready, get out some cozy blankets and enjoy a movie night with the whole family!

5. carve a pumpkin 🎃

Halloween is coming up soon and the right decorations can easily be made at home.

The following items are needed to carve a Halloween pumpkin:

  • 1 pumpkin
  • a sharp, pointed knife (it's best to help your child with this step)
  • 1 spoon
  • 1 pencil for sketching
6. make a campfire 🏕

You will need wood, a barbecue lighter and a fire pit for your campfire. Optionally, you can buy small sausages or marshmallows to add to the campfire experience!

7. paint stones with autumn motifs 🎨

Organize a family walk and collect stones with large surfaces. You can then clean and paint them at home. Depending on the motif, they can be used as decoration in your home.

8. carve potato stamps & design pictures or greeting cards 🥔

A simple, inexpensive and, above all, creative way to spend a rainy fall afternoon with children. You always have potatoes in stock. So there's no need to plan in advance and you can get started straight away. Simply cut the potatoes in half, draw the motif and carve it out. Then dip the potato stamps in acrylic paint, for example, and start stamping. This could result in great works of art or greetings cards.

9. run a forest parkour and complete all the stations 🌲

Want to work off some energy? Then find a (forest) parkour near you and run through all the stations. The pedometer of the Anio 5 adds a little challenge to see who can take the most steps!

Fresh air, satisfaction and tiredness at the end included.

10. make a lantern for the St. Martin's procession 🏮

If your children aren't already making lanterns at nursery, kindergarten or school, then you know what to do. Find a simple set of instructions and you're ready to go!
